Pat's Note:

It was thoughtful of Oz to raise these matters over a wider range of
newsgroups. I don't usually take that much interest in politics, but
perhaps it is time.

If this runs the course, it will finish up at the door of the Scottish
Government. It will mean the end of any possibility for independence.

Let's take it step by step.

1. Way back in 2000/2001 the Scottish Executive took over
responsibility for Scottish vets faking blood tests on pigs in
England. They conducted an internal investigation in private and
cleared them.

Its a pretty firm legal principle that if you take responsibility for
something even illegally, you cannot then claim you are no longer
responsible by reason of your own illegal action. So the Scottish
Government is responsible.

2. Scotland's pigs were sick with MRSA then and later. They actually
refused to slaughter some north of the Border and shipped them south
for slaughter in England. They probably thought it smart. Not so smart
when you leave a trail a mile wide.

3. If there is a connection between pig herds sick with PMWS -
Circovirus and C.Diff as well as carrying MRSA, then a proper enquiry
will establish the link. It won't be difficult.

4. If as I expect the current human epidemics in Britain, Ireland,
Scotland, Canada and the United States are traced back to the UK. The
blame is likely to bypass everyone else and finish up in Scotland.

5. Reparations and damages will have to be paid and the North Sea oil
fields will be the surety. The English won't want to ride to the
rescue. They are quite likely to join the claimants.

6. You have to remember the preponderance of Scottish MPs and
Ministers at Westminster that allowed the Scots to investigate faked
blood tests in England. Even Mr Speaker who took one of the original
complaints was a Scot.

All roads lead to Edinburgh and the excess of vets produced by
Scotland's education system. Free university education has its
drawbacks.

You can see why Britain's bent vets won't test the pigs. It would be
committing veterinary suicide.

The decisions are all being made in smoke filled rooms in Edinburgh.

It all depends on the relationship between sick pigs and MRSA being
mirrored in sick pigs carrying C.Diff too.

We are bound to find out, but watch the efforts that will be made
north of the border to avoid a proper investigation

Breaking news - C-diff families demand apology

By Andrew Gibson

Families demand an apology

Pic by: Stewart Robertson
THE families, united by the C-diff tragedy, today (Tuesday) announced
they are officially seeking a public inquiry into the deaths at the
Vale of Leven Hospital.

Representatives of seven families are demanding an apology from NHS
Greater Glasgow and Clyde (GGC) and whoever is responsible for the
deaths of their loved ones.

Flanked by newly-appointed lawyer, family members addressed the media
scrum which had descended on the Riverside Church in Dumbarton.

Michelle Stewart, a spokeswoman for the C-diff families, said: “We,
the families of the tragic victims of the C-diff outbreak, have come
together as a group because we believe our loved ones were badly let
down by Greater Glasgow and Clyde Health Board and the Scottish
Government.

Lawyer Patrick McGuire

“Although we are happy that Nicola Sturgeon has established an
independent review, we do not feel this is enough as it will not speak
to the families.

“At the very least the people conducting the review should speak to
those affected.”

Patrick McGuire, of Thompsons Solicitors, who is acting on behalf of
the families, would not be drawn on questions about compensation.

He emphasised the families are not interested in money, but want to
make sure their voices will be heard and questions are answered.

Mr McGuire also said the seven families want to make sure that no-one
else in the future goes through the pain they have suffered.

out on July 15.
